Speaking to LUTV, Garry Monk has insisted his Leeds United side are aiming to finish the Sky Bet Championship season on a high, despite their Play-Off hopes appearing to be over.
Saturday’s shock 2-1 defeat to Burton Albion left Leeds three-points behind sixth-placed Fulham, with just two fixtures of the regular season remaining, effectively ending their chances of a Play-Off appearance.
Monk’s side are now relying on the clubs above them to drop points, along with Leeds picking up six-points from their remaining two fixtures.
Looking ahead to the remainder of the season, Monk said: “We feel hugely disappointed because making the Play-Offs is now out of our hands and the defeat is very raw at the moment.
“We have a duty though, to fight for everyone and our fans in these final two games, we want to finish on a high at Elland Road.
“Whilst there is still a small chance, we have to go for it and we will all be trying to do that.”
Leeds welcome Norwich City to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, knowing they need three-points to keep their Play-Off hopes alive.
Monk’s side have picked up just one victory from their last six Championship fixtures, a run of results, which have been particularly damaging to the club’s promotion hopes.
