Birmingham City avoided relegation on the final day of the season with an impressive victory over Fulham, securing another year of Championship football at St Andrew's.

But, there are some deep-lying problems for Garry Monk’s men, which they will need to solve over the coming months by dipping into the transfer market.

Since Monk’s arrival at Birmingham, the likes of Jota and Lukas Jutkiewicz looked rejuvenated, but the mistakes across the board were noticeable throughout this disappointing season for the Blues.

With a severe lack of prowess in front of goal and letting the floodgates open at the back, perhaps a complete overhaul is needed if the Blues are to consider anything other than relegation battlers again next season.

Here are three deals that Birmingham City should consider this summer to get a buzz back at St Andrew's.

With Che Adams finishing top goal scorer for Birmingham City this season with nine, a new goal machine needs to be added to the current squad.

Lee Chung-yong, currently of Crystal Palace, has found himself out of the first team at Selhurst Park since Roy Hodgson took over.

Out of contract at the end of this season, the South Korean, who has scored 17 goals at his former club Bolton, could finally add the goal-scoring ability to Garry Monk’s side.

Ben Hamer is out of contract at Leicester City this summer, and would be a great addition to Garry Monk’s side.

After just three Premier League starts this season, the former Charlton man may be in pursuit of regular first team football, and with Birmingham conceding 68 goals this season, it could be a good move for both parties.

While Birmingham do possess a number of solid options between the sticks, Hamer would provide big game experience which this current Blues side lacks.

Tomasz Kuszczak played just ten times in the Championship this season, and at the age of 36, it may be time for the Blues to say goodbye to the veteran goalkeeper.

Playing second fiddle to David Stockdale, perhaps Garry Monk should look to lower the average age in the first team and get rid of the former Manchester United goalie.
