Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has heaped praise on international teammate and Wigan striker Kieffer Moore following his goalscoring display on Saturday.
The Wigan Athletic forward helped Wales to a comfortable 2-0 win over Azerbaijan on Saturday evening as his 10th-minute header put Wales on course for another crucial win in their hunt for qualification to Euro 2020.
His goal came after a brilliant cross from Harry Wilson hung in the air, allowing Moore to bundle home from close range to give Ryan Giggs’ side an early lead. Moore’s goal was second of his career for his country in just four caps, with the first coming last month in Wales’ 1-1 draw with Slovakia.
One international teammate who typically takes a lot of the plaudits for Wales is Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale who has been instrumental in Wales’ recent qualification stages and their historic Euro 2016 campaign. Bale had little impact in the weekend’s game as he recovers from injury and was brought off in the second half for Aaron Ramsey after an hour played.
Despite not making an impact himself, Bale still had the chance to outline the impact of Moore up front and heaped praise on him since his introduction to the squad recently. As quoted by Wigan Today, Bale had this to say on Kieffer Moore’s outing: “He’s come in and done a fantastic job.
“I think he’s kind of that out ball for us now, where we know someone can hold the ball up for us and we can play off him.
“We have more options which is always good for us as a squad and a team, and he’s done fantastic since he came in.
“He has worked really hard and scored some important goals for us.
“Hopefully he can carry on that run of form and we can qualify.”
Moore’s contribution to the current Wales side is brilliant with two goals in four games, so he will be hoping that he can continue that run to push the side towards qualification to next year’s tournament.
His form for Wales surpasses his current league form for Wigan as he currently has just one goal this season, so he will be hoping his international output can kickstart his season for his club going forward.
