Gareth Bale gives hint on his future amid Cardiff City speculation

Gareth Bale has discussed his immediate future amid speculation he is moving to Cardiff City.

The Welsh superstar appears open to a move to the nation’s capital following his departure from the World Cup.

The 32-year old has shrugged off the drop in level to the Championship, opening the door to a move.

The legendary forward has claimed that he is looking for game time ahead of Wales’ trip to the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

That could see Bale move to Cardiff in order to stay fresh for Rob Page’s side this November.

The former Madrid player has confirmed he has spoken to Page about his future, admitting that he is simply looking to play football games.

“It’s something I guess I need to sit down and go through, not just with my family, but with the manager here [Rob Page], with the physios here that we use, to see what would give me the best chance of being fit come November and December,” said Bale, via Wales Online.

“I don’t really know if the standard makes too much of a difference.

“A football game is a football game. I feel like I’ll never really lose my quality on the ball. I guess it’s a conversation to be had.

“I haven’t really looked at everything yet. I know possible destinations but it’s something I need to sit down, first and foremost with my family, and then I need to speak with managers and physios and decide what’s best for myself.

“I don’t have a time scale. I need time to think what’s the best move for me, my family, my kids and hopefully we’ll sort that over the summer. I have options.”

Can you remember how much Cardiff City paid for these 22 summer signings?

When later asked specifically about a move to the Bluebirds, Bale responded: “I can’t really say.”

This has very much left the door open for the five time Champions League winner to make the switch to Steve Morison’s side.

Cardiff finished 18th in the table last season, but had a promising second half of the campaign under Morison.

The Verdict

This possible move would be a huge moment for Cardiff, with Bale being the best player the country has ever produced.

The forward has shown that while he isn’t at the absolute top of his game, he still has plenty he could offer at a high level.

Bale arriving could have a transformative impact on the team’s chances next season, even if he only looks to play some of the team’s games.

If Morison can manage his minutes well, keep him fit for the World Cup and still get game time out of him then this would be a massive signing for Cardiff.
