Saturday saw Leeds United get their promotion push back moving in the right direction, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side beating Bristol City 1-0 at Elland Road.

Leeds had Luke Ayling’s goal to thank for the victory, but in truth it was a really dominant performance from Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who were unfortunate not to win by a clearer scoreline.

Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford and Helder Costa all had good chances to convert in the game, with the latter perhaps turning in his most impressive performance since arriving from Wolves.

Costa forced Bentley into a good stop in the first-half, before the goalkeeper was forced to scramble after the 26-year-old rounded him in the second. Additionally, Costa laid on a beautiful assist for Bamford, whose tame effort was cut out by the goalkeeper.

It was really a performance filled with threat from Costa, whose only failing at the moment is not adding goals and assists.

The question whether the Bristol City outing was Costa’s best yet was put to the Leeds United Supporters’ Group on Facebook, which sparked a strong reaction.

Many backed the claim, whilst others were somehow unimpressed…

Richard Oswald: “I thought it was one of his worst”

Peter Duffy “What game were you watching, he was garbage”

David Dalton: “I thought he played pretty well yes”

Sam Gallagher: “He played well but needs to improve his decision making in final 3rd. He could have scored at least twice if he hadn’t hesitated or made the wrong pass he’s getting better each game but not quite there yet”

Keith Gray “He did as he was told and the boss likes that”

Aaron Corr: “Yes it was, room to improve though”

Ian Robertson: “I thought he had good game just wish he added a few goals to his game”

Peter Duffy continued: “That’s it for the last 8 games, he’s not worth the money we are going to have to shell out for him.”
