The future of Reading FC winger Garath McCleary seems to be all but over, with the 32-year-old being frozen out of the first-team picture.

The Jamaican hasn't made a single appearance for the Royals this season, and it seems highly unlikely that he will be a Reading player for much longer.

He has been training away from the first-team and despite the majority of the squad being away on international duty, McCleary still isn't able to even get into the first-team changing rooms.

The winger posted a video on his Instagram account today, and he clearly wasn't surprised not to be able to access the room.

McCleary has been with the Royals for a number of seasons, making 243 appearances for the Berkshire-based club since moving from Nottingham Forest in 2012.

He has had trouble with injuries in recent years though, and Jose Gomes seemingly doesn't see him as part of his plans for this year's league campaign.

The Reading boss is keen to give the club's young players a chance in the first-team this season, with the likes of Danny Loader and Michael Olise being preferred over McCleary.

His days at Reading seem numbered, and a loan move away from the club shouldn't be ruled out, with the loan deadline and transfer window deadline for European clubs still open.

Reading will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Championship after the international break when they take on Middlesbrough at the Riverside.

The Verdict:

I'm stunned that he's still with the club.

I'm surprised that he hasn't been given a chance with Gomes' side this season, but after the late signings they made in the summer transfer window, Reading have better options available to them.

I would have expected another Championship team to come in for him, as he is too good to be playing under 23's football this season.
