Crawley boss, Gabriele Cioffi, has claimed that the Carabao Cup fixture against Stoke will be more difficult than the previous round’s fixture against Premier League side, Norwich.
Cioffi and his side will be backed by a sold-out home crowd, as they look to advance into the fourth round of the cup against an out-of-form Stoke City side.
The Potters have failed to win a match in the Championship so far this season and sit second bottom of the division after eight games of the league season.
However, Cioffi has claimed that it will be a tougher test for his side to face Stoke than it was Norwich.
Speaking to crawleytownfc.com, Cioffi said: “It’s crazy for anyone to think this is an easier game than Norwich – in fact it will be even more difficult.
“They have a very strong squad and a good manager. They have been a bit unlucky in recent weeks but there is no question they have quality. They will know what to expect and will be well prepared.
“The challenge for our players is can they repeat what they did against Norwich? Can we get some good fortune again which we need when we play any team from a higher division? Can we respond to what I’m sure will be a strong home crowd?”
This tie is set to be a cracker under the lights with both sides wanting to progress for different reasons. Nathan Jones will just be so eager for his side to turn their awful run around, so he’ll be hoping a momentum boosting cup win can help the Potters in the league.
Crawley are hoping to pull off another big scalp against an out-of-form Championship side, so Cioffi knows there is a chance of victory after they beat Norwich last month.
They’ll have to play to their very best as like Cioffi said, this Stoke City side cannot be underestimated.
