Bolton legend Jussi Jääskeläinen has retired from football aged 42, to focus on his coaching career.

He began this campaign in a joint player/coach role in India with Atletico Kolkata and made the last appearance and picked him the final clean sheet of his 26-year career in December 2017, playing in a 0-0 draw with Jamshedpur FC.

He came to Bolton from native side VPS for just £100,000 in 1997, and went on to become fifth on the all time list of appearance makers with 526 outings during his 15 years with the club.

He was part of the Trotters side that won promotion to the Premiership in 2001 as well as twice qualify for the UEFA Cup in 2005 and 2007 - all under the guidance of Sam Allarydce.

He left the club in 2012 to join Allarydce at West Ham United but remains an absolute legend in the eyes of the Wanderers fans.

They tweeted their reaction to the news that Jääskeläinen had retired with the outpouring of love you would expect.
