Blackburn Rovers have announced that midfielder Lewis Travis has signed a new long term contract with the club, keeping him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2023.

Travis, who has made a total of 41 appearances in all competitions for the Lancashire side, first became a first-team regular for Tony Mowbray's during the second half of last season. After initially filling in for the then suspended Richie Smallwood at the turn of the year, Travis became one of the most consistent features of Rovers' starting lineup, with his performances earning him the club's Young Player of the Year award for last season.

The 21-year-old also scored his first goal in senior football last season, netting in Rovers' 2-1 defeat away to eventual champions Norwich City in the penultimate game of the season.

Prior to this latest agreement, Travis' contract at Ewood Park had been set to expire in the summer of 2021.

Taking to Twitter to react to the news of Travis' new deal, a number of Blackburn were delighted to secure the services of one of the club's key men on a long term basis.
