Rangers are yet to table an official bid for Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell, according to a report from Football Scotland.

The 24-year-old is currently on the Gers' radar with Michael Beale hoping to get a deal over the line this month, something that may not be too much of a challenge considering the Canaries are reportedly open to selling him this month.

This is probably partly due to the fact his contract expires in the summer and with this, they look set to lose him for nothing unless they generate a fee for him between now and the end of this month.

The Gers face a battle in their quest to recruit him though, with Blackburn Rovers and Eredivisie outfit PSV also believed to be interested in the 24-year-old and the former even having a bid rejected earlier this month.

It looked as though the Scottish Premiership side had made a breakthrough when it was claimed by Football Insider yesterday that they had an offer accepted for Cantwell, with a medical reportedly lined up for him at Ibrox.

Football Scotland believe an offer hasn't been made just yet though, even though the same outlet believes the Gers will have no trouble sealing a deal if the player wants the move.

The Verdict:

Beale's side should be looking to get a deal over the line as quickly as possible if they want him because it seems as though he is currently the subject of interest from multiple second-tier sides.

You can see why considering how promising he was during the early stages of his senior career at Carrow Road, being tipped to become a big star at one point after making a real impression in Norfolk.

Things haven't exactly gone to plan for him in recent seasons - but at 24 - there's still plenty of time for him to grow as a player and potentially ply his trade in the Premier League regularly in the future.

That makes him a good potential option for Blackburn who will have aspirations of getting themselves back to the top flight after a promising 18 months.

If he makes the switch to Ibrox though, he could be a great addition for the Scottish side.

Even if the move doesn't work out for the best, he will add depth to their squad and could play regularly in European competitions, something he may be needed for considering the Gers' busy schedule.
