Further details of Samu Saiz’s potential Leeds United departure have emerged, with the playmaker expected to depart Elland Road on loan to Getafe with the view to a permanent deal.

Leeds’ midfielder is thought to be unhappy at Elland Road and looking for a move back to Spain with his pregnant partner.

According to Spanish journalist David Cartlidge, Getafe’s president has confirmed a player will undergo a medical next week, with that player believed to be Leeds’ Saiz, who would join on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Adam Pope has backed that up, although there does appear to be some complications according to the BBC Radio Leeds man.

Saiz has been with Leeds 18 months and still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at Elland Road.

So far this season he’s made 19 Championship appearances, returning four assists but failing to score a goal.

Over the course of the last six weeks he’s lost his place in the starting line-up to Adam Forshaw, although he was recalled for Leeds’ victory over Queens Park Rangers last weekend.

It remains to be seen if Saiz is involved when Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds head to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

The Verdict

A move for Saiz appears to be gathering pace and it honestly looks like he’ll be playing his football elsewhere in 2019.

It’s a shame for Leeds, but if the player is unhappy, it’s only right that the club allow him to move.

Saiz hasn’t been at his best since August, with this seemingly putting everything into place.
