Barcelona have a 50% sell-on clause as part of the deal that took Rey Manaj to Watford.

The Hornets announced the signing of the forward earlier today, confirming that they had brought the Albanian international in after an undisclosed fee was struck between the two clubs.

And, in a further development, reporter Samuel Marsden revealed that the Catalan giants have included a hefty sell-on clause as part of that agreement, that will see them pick up half of whatever fee Manaj is sold for in his next move.

"Barcelona striker Rey Manaj has joined Watford. Barça have 50% of any future transfer."

Bringing in the 25-year-old is seen as a coup for Watford, with the attacker the latest new recruit to strengthen Rob Edwards' squad ahead of the new season.

Whilst the Championship side are currently well-stocked for options in the final third at the minute, the likes of Ismaila Sarr and Emmanuel Dennis are expected to secure transfers away before the deadline later this summer.

Edwards' side begin their campaign against Sheffield United on August 1.

The verdict

This is obviously a significant sell-on but the reality is that it might be something Barcelona insisted on, in which case there's not much Watford can do.

Plus, with the initial fee undisclosed, we don't know exactly what Watford paid but the likelihood is that it was a lower amount straight up, which is a positive.

Ultimately, this is an exciting signing and fans will just be keen to see what Manaj can do in a Watford shirt.
