Lewis O'Brien is set for a medical with Blackburn as they look to win the race to sign the midfielder from Nottingham Forest, whilst they remain in the hunt for Steve Cook.

The former Huddersfield man has been the subject of serious interest in the window, with Sheffield United and West Brom among the clubs keen on taking O'Brien.

However, he will be joining Rovers, as reporter Alan Nixon confirmed that it has all been cleared for the 24-year-old to have a medical as they look to get this one over the line by the 11pm deadline.

And, he may not be the only Forest outcast going to Ewood Park as the journalist also revealed that Jon Dahl Tomasson's side are firmly in the hunt to bring in centre-back Cook.

The update claims that they are battling it out with Luton Town for the defender, who has plenty of experience at this level which includes winning promotion with Bournemouth and most recently with Forest in the previous campaign when they went up through the play-offs.

The verdict

These would be two fantastic additions for Forest as O'Brien is a clear upgrade on what they have in midfield and would've been a real coup for most in this division.

So, he would add a lot to this Blackburn side and Cook is another who would be a valuable addition as he will bring know-how and leadership to the backline.

The move for O'Brien seems at a very advanced stage and if they can get the two done then it will be a brilliant end to the window for Blackburn.
