Brennan Johnson has been named the EFL Young Player of the Month for September.

The Nottingham Forest youngster has gone from strength-to-strength under Steve Cooper and enjoyed a fabulous month for the Reds.

September was a productive month for the Reds in the end. Despite defeats to Cardiff City and Middlesbrough under Chris Hughton, results picked up after his sacking.

Steven Reid took interim charge at Huddersfield as they won 2-0, before Cooper's first game in charge resulted in a 1-1 draw at home to Millwall.

Cooper's men then recorded emphatic away wins over Barnsley and Birmingham City, yielding seven points from the Welshman's first three games at the helm.

In September, Johnson scored in the win at Barnsley and registered an assist on the night. He also chipped in with an assist at Huddersfield for Lewis Grabban's header.

His performances have been electric since Cooper switched to a 3-4-3 formation, giving Johnson freedom in the final third.

Johnson has now been named the EFL Young Player of the Month, with Forest announcing the news on Saturday morning.
