Plenty of Leeds United fans have taken to social media to react to the news that Birmingham City will face a nine-point deduction from the EFL for breaching profitability and sustainability rules.

The points deduction will see the Blues drop from 13th in the Championship table to 18th, just five points above the relegation zone, with eight matches left to play.

It is understood that Birmingham will face no further financial penalties, nor would the club be under a future transfer embargo.

Birmingham are the first club to be deducted pointed since the EFL introduced the new regulations at the start of the 2016-17 season.

The club admitted a loss of £37.5million in the 12-month period before the end of June 2018, with the club's debt largely down to an increased wage bill, after Harry Redknapp signed 14 players during his brief spell as manager.

The news caused a huge reaction on social media and it is fair to say that the announcement generated a mixed response from Leeds fans, with some saying the punishment was deserved and others offering sympathy.

The two teams are due to meet at Elland Road shortly after the international break, with some fans quick to point out that this will make it a harder game for the Whites as their opponents would be in a relegation battle.
