The two halves of Sheffield meet in the first Steel City derby of the season, with both sides enjoying very different fortunes coming into the Friday night match, in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Sheffield United are in great form currently third in the table only a point behind leaders Leeds United, despite a couple of defeats in the last few weeks.

For Sheffield Wednesday, it is a story of trying to stop the slide, after four straight defeats have sent the Owls plunging down the Championship table and currently languishing in 17th place some 11 points off the pace.

But will home advantage be a big plus for the Blades?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

Of course, home advantage is always huge in a derby game. It’ll be packed to the rafters, full of atmosphere and passion.

I love a derby day. I wish I was going, but you couldn’t be neutral, could you?

Home turf, in form, pushing for promotion…..

It’s got a Blades win written all over it.

George Harbey

Absolutely.

The atmosphere will be incredible at Bramall Lane and they can help drive United to another three points at home.

Jay Taylor

It could work both ways.

If Wednesday come to frustrate United, the crown could get on the homes side’s back, causing them to make mistakes and give the Owls the edge.

On the other hand, if they are vocal and passionate in their support once more, it could act as the proverbial 12th man for Chis Wilder’s side.

It all depends on how the game starts and which side looks to be the more dominant but either way I don’t think it has that much of an influence as it is always a hard place to go, whatever team visit.
