Fulham right-back Cyrus Christie has opened up about working with Scott Parker, stating that the Cottagers boss has "done well" during his time in charge at the club.

The 27-year-old defender spoke to Dapo Abitogun on the Counter Attack Podcast about his time at Fulham so far, and discussed what Parker has brought to the team since taking the job.

The Fulham boss first joined the club's coaching staff under former manager Slavisa Jokanovic in July 2018, becoming caretaker manager in February 2019 following Claudio Ranieri's departure.

Although the west London side were unable to avoid relegation back to the Championship last term, Parker's role was made permanent last summer, with the 39-year-old signing a two-year contract.

Christie has worked under Parker throughout that period of time, and gave his verdict on how the Cottagers boss has done so far during his time in charge.

“I think Scotty [Parker] has come in and has done well," Christie said.

"There’s good staff there [at Fulham] and the lads like him as well and he’s not long out of playing, which makes it easier.”

The Republic of Ireland international also said that Parker's tactical flexibility as a coach has proven to be an important asset for the team this season.

"The different ways that we play - obviously I’m not going to give away tactics, but we’ve got different tactics," he added.

"There’s different things and we switch it up through the game, so he’s done good."

Fulham currently sit in 3rd place in the Championship table, level with Leeds United on 55 points, as the side seek to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Christie reflected on some of the recent disappointing results for the club, and made a strong admission in the process.

“It’s just annoying when you look back at some of the results we have had, like Reading and Luton where we drew and Charlton [0-0 draw]. We could’ve potentially been six or seven points clear.”

The Verdict

Cyrus Christie was open and honest in his reflection about Scott Parker, and we can gauge from his thoughts that the Fulham boss is very well respected amongst the players at the football club.

Parker has amassed a win percentage of 45.5% since taking the job on a caretaker basis last year.

With Fulham still in the running for automatic promotion, both Christie and Parker will be hoping to celebrate success come May.
