Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has stated that his side missed a big opportunity after a controversial decision gifted Millwall an equaliser on Wednesday night.

The Cottagers took the lead early on in the match as the Serbian forward found the net just three minutes into the game.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson then levelled, although it looked as though the Lions player was offside in the build-up to the goal.

Millwall's Jed Wallace later missed a spot-kick, as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw.

Mitrovic claimed that it was an opportunity missed and slammed the officials for making an 'obvious' mistake regarding Millwall's equaliser.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Mitrovic said: "It was offside, so a big missed opportunity.

"It was obvious, you could see it was a big offside. The referee told me he was not sure who played the ball so he had to give the goal. But that's football, we have another game in two days and we move on."

The Verdict

It will be a bitter pill for Fulham fans to swallow having seen the goal back after the game. Mitrovic has every right to be angry and he clearly knows it was a missed opportunity.

There's still a lot of football to be played in the season and there is set to be a lot of twists and turns in the final 14 matches.

Decisions like these seem to be happening over and over again in the Championship and it's becoming a regular for fans to be left frustrated by the officials.

Fulham have a big opportunity to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they take on relegation-threatened Barnsley. A win could take the Cottagers up to second.
