Quoted by The Times, Fulham manager Scott Parker has revealed that the club has employed a psychologist to help the players with the mental side of the current lockdown.

The current regulations in this country remain in place until May 7th and, therefore, the football season, if it resumes, will not be back in play for a while yet.

Players need to try and keep themselves healthy both physically and mentally, then, and Parker has revealed an expert has been brought in, with him possessing particular concerns over the young lads that are living here from abroad.

He said:

"It's very, very tough. We've obviously got a psychologist who works with us, he's in contact with them.

“As much as the whole situation is scary for a lot of the players, the ones who seem to struggle the most are the young ones, foreign lads.

“We have to work out where they are mentally, and keep them in a place (mentally) where they’re comfortable. We talk, we (use) Zoom, there’s regular communication with the players but there’s no denying that it’s a tough period.

“In terms of managing their minds, and them, it is a fragile situation which me and the staff need to be fully aware of and respect.”

The Verdict

Parker seems well across where his players are at the moment and that is good to hear as it will give the club the ability to zone in on anyone that is particularly struggling.

It's tough for everyone involved, and young players who might well have only just come away from their native countries and families are bound to be at risk of suffering with their mental health.

The club appears well in tune with what's going on, though, and that is a positive for sure.
