Fulham boss Kit Symons wants the Republic of Ireland international to challenge Marcus Bettinnelli for the No.1 jersey at the club.

Get West London understand that Symons has held talks with Forde about a possible move to Craven Cottage.

Dutch stopper Maarten Stekelenburg looks likely to be leaving the club this summer with Southampton looking the likely destination.

Gabor Kiraly is expected to be released and Richard Lee, who joined the Cottagers on a short-term deal at the back end of last season, has now retired.

It is looking probable that 35-year-old Forde will leave The Den this summer following the Lions' relegation to League One.

The Irishman has established himself as first-choice stopper for the Republic of Ireland under Martin O'Neill and he feels playing in the English third-tier might hamper his chances at international level.

Forde made nearly 300 appearances for Millwall since joining in 2008 and has 23 caps for Ireland.
