Hughton has been without a job since being sacked by Norwich City last April, and he now looks set to take the helm at Craven Cottage.

The former Newcastle boss hinted he would be interested in the Fulham job last month, telling ESPN:  "It is a job I would be interested in,”

“There were some reports in the newspapers that I have already held talks with Fulham, but that is not the case.

“What I would say is Fulham is a fantastic club and any manager would be interested in working there. I understand they will take their time to weigh up their options and I will await developments in the next few days and weeks.”

Fulham have been searching for a new manager since they sacked German boss Felix Magath, after an abysmal start to their Sky Bet Championship campaign.
