After their massive win over Aston Villa at Wembley on Saturday, Fulham are already making moves as they look to beef up their squad for the Premier League.

And, according to the Daily Star, they are looking to secure Southampton's Matt Targett on a permanent deal this summer.

The left-back enjoyed a fine loan spell at Craven Cottage as they won promotion, joining the club in January and featuring in 21 games, including the final.

Whilst the capture of Aleksandar Mitrovic understandably attracted the headlines, Targett was a key factor in the Cottagers' fine form in the second half of the season.

His arrival also allowed Ryan Sessegnon to push further forward and the teenager developed a good understanding with Targett.

The west London side will have to do a deal with Southampton but that could be reached, with Ryan Bertrand the number one left-back at the South Coast club and it's unlikely Targett would dislodge the England international.

Slavisa Jokanovic is also looking to strengthen his squad by bringing in Mitrovic permanents and Bristol City's Aden Flint.

The Verdict

Targett added a lot to the Fulham side when he joined and formed a very effective partnership with Ryan Sessegnon down Fulham's left side.

With first-team opportunities likely to be hard to come by at Southampton, it's a move that would surely greatly appeal to the player too.

Given that, a deal looks likely and Fulham will be desperate to secure his signature as soon as possible.
