Aston Villa are set to offload winger Jota to Championship side Fulham ahead of Friday's transfer deadline, according to the Daily Mail.

The Spaniard hasn't had as much game time as he'd have liked this season, and has made just 12 appearances throughout, scoring just one goal for the club.

He joined Villa in the summer having left their rivals Birmingham, in what was a shock move to many supporters. The player was reunited with Dean Smith having played under him at Brentford.

It now looks as though the 28-year-old is set to drop back into the Championship as Fulham look to bolster their attacking options ahead of a crucial run-in.

The deal would be a loan deal, and it would see competition in the wide positions at the West London club which Scott Parker will hope can benefit his side in terms of their contribution in front of goal.

The Verdict

It'll be a really good addition for Fulham, especially with the way that they are currently playing their football this season.

He's got star ability for the Championship, but has to find a way of producing performances on a more consistent basis in order to get the best out of his ability.

It's a player that Parker will definitely be looking forward to working with and someone that no doubt makes the squad stronger.

It also frees up wages for an Aston Villa side who will be looking to make some more additions in order to keep their Premier League status come the end of the season.
