Fulham midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa is keen to make a move to Serie A side AS Roma before the transfer window closes as two stumbling blocks emerge that could impact any deal, according to Calciomercato.it.

It is believed that Anguissa is wanting to secure himself an exit from Craven Cottage this summer following their relegation from to the Championship. The midfielder is wanting to make the switch to Roma to work with Jose Mourinho in his first season in charge of the Italian side.

However, it is thought that Fulham are against the idea of sending him out on loan for the campaign as they did the last time they were in the Championship with the midfielder having been sent to Villarreal.

Instead, Calciomercato.it report that they have placed a €20 million valuation (£17 million) on the 25-year-old that Roma will have to meet to make a move happen. That comes with Marco Silva viewing him as a potentially key player in his side for the new campaign.

The Italian side are hoping that valuation is altered over the next few weeks as the transfer window draws to a close.

It is also thought that Fulham’s pursuit of Swansea City midfielder Matt Grimes could play a key role in the future of Anguissa and if that move is sealed then it might open the door for Roma to sign the midfielder.

The verdict

Losing Anguissa would be a blow for Fulham with Silva seemingly seeing him as someone that could make a massive difference for them in their quest to earn promotion straight back to the Premier League this season. You would have to imagine that the 25-year-old would be a stand out performer in the English second tier given his quality so he is right to try and keep hold of him.

However, it seems that the midfielder has his heart set on a move to Roma and you can see why he would want to work with one of the world’s best managers in Mourinho.

It seems like Swansea might have to sanction the sale of Grimes to Fulham before they make way for Roma to make a move for Anguissa. That means that this situation could well drag on for a while yet.

Fulham should maintain their valuation of the midfielder as high as possible because he is certainly worth not too much less than what they are valuing him at. Therefore it should be up to Roma to come up towards their level rather than Silva’s side lowering their asking price.
