Fulham are set to make a late deadline day move for Huddersfield Town full-back Florent Hadergjonaj, Football Insider have reported.

The defender initially joined Huddersfield on loan from German side Ingolstadt in the summer of 2017, before making his move to the John Smith's Stadium permanent the following summer.

In total, the 25-year-old has made 52 appearances in all competitions for the Terriers, and has two years remaining on his contract with the club, although Huddersfield do hold the option of extending that deal by a further 12 months.

It now seems however, that Fulham could look to prize the Kosovan international away from Yorkshire before Thursday's 5 PM transfer deadline, with Scott Parker keen to strengthen his side's defence as they look to push for an immediate return to the Premier League this season.

Huddersfield have already lost one right-back to a Championship rival this summer, with Tommy Smith joining Stoke City earlier in the transfer window.

The Verdict

I could see this being a good signing for Fulham.

Hadergjonaj has been a solid defender during his time at Huddersfield, who also has the ability to push further up the pitch when required, and with Fulham needing to add to their defence, you can understand why they would be interested in him.

Even so, I would still be very surprised if this deal went through.

Huddersfield are not going to want to lose another right-back this summer following the departure of Tommy Smith, and with the length of time remaining on Hadergjonaj's contract that there is, you feel they are in a strong position to negotiate any offer that comes in for the 25-year-old, particularly with there being just hours remaining until the window closes.
