Brentford have confirmed the signing of Danish international Christian Eriksen via the club website.

This comes after Football League World exclusively learnt that Fulham were lining up an ambitious move for the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.

The 29-year-old, who suffered a cardiac arrest whilst representing Denmark during Euro 2020, will be embarking on his first spell after the incident.

Fulham possess a plethora of exciting attacking options, but Eriksen would certainly have been the most impressive player to land at Craven Cottage yet.

The Cottagers find themselves five points clear at the Championship summit and are six points ahead of Bournemouth in third, with securing Premier League football the ultimate objective in West London.

The future of Fabio Carvalho remains in the balance on Deadline Day and it could turn into a hectic day at Craven Cottage.

The verdict

Fulham appear to have enough to get themselves over the line, even with Eriksen signing for the Bees.

Even if Carvalho is to depart, they are still likely to have what it takes to secure promotion back to the Premier League.

Eriksen's world-class ability on the ball, vision and understanding of the game would have made him one of the most exciting Championship players there has ever been, and he could be a real coup for the Bees.

It remains to be seen if it will be a successful Deadline Day at Craven Cottage, but as things stand, Fulham still possess a squad capable of maintaining their spot at the Championship summit.
