Fulham have made an enquiry into Olympique Lyonnais centre-back Bakary Kone, according to West London Sport.
The 27-year-old joined the French giants in 2011 on an initial five-year deal for €3.8 million from Guingamp, but found opportunities limited in their second-place Ligue 1 finish last season as they qualified for the Champions League.
Now he is attracting interest from Fulham, who are looking to add a centre-back to their ranks after a horrible defensive record last season.
They have already added Luke Garbutt and James Husband on loan as well as Tim Ream from Bolton Wanderers and Jazz Richards from Swansea City, but still want a centre-half before Tuesday’s deadline.
The Cottagers have hunted various centre-backs, and had a bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Richard Stearman accepted this afternoon.
They have given up on their lengthy pursuit of Lewis Dunk after they had four bids rejected, and Brighton tied him down with a new long-term contract.
