Fulham leading the race to sign Premier League striker

According to the Mirror’s live transfer blog (09/01, 10:37), Fulham are leading the race to sign Lewis Grabban this month, with the Cottagers believing that could secure the striker’s signature for £7m.

There is a race on to secure Grabban’s service this month, with Wolverhampton Wanderers another Sky Bet Championship club reportedly interested in handing the striker a permanent route out of AFC Bournemouth this month.

Grabban has spent the first-half of the 2017/18 campaign on-loan in the Championship with Sunderland, who he scored 12 goals for in 20 league appearances.

However, the striker returned to Bournemouth halfway through his loan spell with Sunderland, with it looking likely that the 29-year-old will secure a permanent return elsewhere in the Championship.

Fulham, who currently sit 10th in the Championship table, are reportedly leading the race to sign Grabban, with Slavisa Jokanovic’s side looking to boost their chance of challenging for a place in the top-six.

The Cottagers are currently just four points adrift of sixth placed, Leeds United, with 20 fixtures of the season still remaining.

Fulham are unbeaten in their last four Championship fixtures and face Middlesbrough on Saturday when they return to league action.

The Verdict

If Fulham can secure a deal to sign Grabban it would be a magnificent coup for the Cottagers, who would be getting their hands on one of the Championship’s most prolific strikers.

Grabban has helped to enhance his reputation during his loan spell at Sunderland, and there will be a host of Championship clubs battling to sign him.

The 29-year-old would significantly improve Fulham’s chance of play-off football.
