Fulham have emerged as an interested party in Mainz attacking midfielder Jean-Paul Boetius, as per a report from Get German Football News.

The 28-year-old, who has featured 33 times in the Bundesliga this season, has netted twice in the league and has provided a further four assists.

The Cottagers are now providing Premier League competition to Middlesbrough, Watford and Norwich City, with the latter two  suffering relegation from England's top-flight.

Coming to the end of his contract with the German outfit, a move to England is looking increasingly likely.

Boetius has appeared over 100 times in the Bundesliga since his 2018 move from Feyenoord, whilst he has also enjoyed relatively short stints in Belgian football.

The exciting midfielder has also one Netherlands cap to his name, making his debut for the national team back during a Friendly against France in 2014.

The verdict

Being an unknown entity to the English game, it is difficult to determine whether he is someone that could help Fulham survive the Premier League drop, or if he would be better suited within a side striving from promotion the top tier.

What is known is that he has played regular top-flight football in Germany for the last four years, possessing excellent technical ability and a cutting edge to his play.

Fulham will be looking to fill the void that Fabio Carvalho is set to leave when he joins Liverpool in the coming weeks, with Boetius certainly appearing to be a cost-effective option for the Whites.

Holding an advantage, due to their Premier League status, it remains to be seen if even more competition arrives for the exciting midfielder.
