Fulham are interested in trying to make a move for talented AS Roma midfielder Ebrima Darboe with the Italian side also aiming to secure his long-term future, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

Darboe has been handed chances to impress by Jose Mourinho at Roma so far this season with the 20-year-old featuring in the UEFA Europa Conference League against Zorya Luhansk. He managed to impress in that game grabbing an assist and also completing three successful dribbles and making two key passes.

Mourinho has also handed the 20-year-old midfielder his first appearance for Roma in Serie A this season which came in a 2-0 win against Empoli.

According to the latest report from Tuttomercatoweb, Roma are keen to try and negotiate a new deal with Darboe that would keep him with them for the long-term. That comes with his current deal set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season.

It is believed that the midfielder is attracting the attention of Fulham who are potentially keen to try and secure the 20-year-old’s signature before he agrees a new deal with Roma.

However, there is also thought to be rival interest in the Roma midfielder from Tottenham Hotspur who are also showing an interest in Darboe at this stage.

The verdict

This has all the makings of a quality signing for Fulham to make considering that Roma are keen to keep hold of the midfielder and also considering that a manager of Mourinho’s caliber has seen enough in him to hand him a few appearances already this term.

However, it is going to be very tough for Fulham to convince the midfielder to swap top-flight Italian football for the Championship.

Therefore, any hopes that they have might rest upon them showing strong signs that they are going to go on and secure promotion back to the Premier League this term.

Darboe would potentially get more chances in Fulham’s first-team straight away than with both Roma and Tottenham over the next few years. That might potentially be enough to convince the midfielder that a move to Craven Cottage could be the right one for him at this stage.
