Fulham are the latest club to enter the race to sign Norwich City star James Maddison, according to The Mirror's Live Transfer Blog [Tuesday 5th June, 12:04PM].

Norwich are braced for multiple bids for Maddison this summer and Fulham are the latest club to take an interest in him.

The Cottagers recently won promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs and Slavisa Jokanovic will now turn his attention to strengthening his squad to ensure they are well-equipped to stay in the top flight.

Maddison has been identified as a target this summer after standing out for the Canaries in the second tier.

The 21-year-old contributed with 14 goals and eight assists from midfield, making him one of the most dangerous attacking threats in the division.

A host of Premier League clubs have been circling around the former Coventry City youth product, who was rated at £30m by Norwich but could now become available for a fee between £20m and £25m.

Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are among the clubs who have been linked with a swoop for the England under-21 international but no team has yet firmed up their interest with a concrete bid, providing hope for Southampton and Fulham in this pursuit.

The Verdict

Maddison is already one of the best players in the Championship at the age of 21 and he is surely destined for a big career at the top.

The youngster is a stylish footballer with plenty of composure and technical ability on the ball and he can show off a range of passes, set-piece specialities and goals and assists.

At £25m, this could be a long-term investment for Fulham and partnering him with Tom Cairney and Kevin McDonald in a midfield trio could see them cruise to safety.
