Fulham’s Vice Chairman Tony Khan took to Instagram after yesterday’s 3-2 win over Luton Town in the Championship, and was full of praise for the team and the star man on the night, Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Mitrovic bagged his first hat-trick in English Football at Craven Cottage last night, taking his tally to 11 for the season.
It was a game that Scott Parker’s side needed to win after the weekend defeat to Stoke City, and it takes them to 7th in the table – level on points with Preston in 6th.
After the game, Khan, who’s the Vice Chair and Director of Football at the club, posted this message on his Instagram:
Khan assumed the role of Director of Football in 2017 and oversaw the club’s promotion to the Premier League under Slavisa Jokanovic in 2018.
Upon promotion he made Mitrovic a permanent figure at Craven Cottage, but it wouldn’t prevent Fulham from crashing straight back down to Championship in the summer.
His third against Luton last night was his ninth in his last six Championship games, and it means he’s scored three more than any other player in the league this season – Brentford’s Ollie Watkins is the next highest-scorer with eight.
At Championship level, Fulham fans will tell you that there’s not better striker that the Serb, and fans of other clubs would probably say the same.
Khan made a good acquisition in Mitrovic, and he’ll be the decisive player as Fulham look to make a swift a return to the top-flight under Parker this season.
