Fulham are considering a loan move for out-of-favour Crystal Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, according to Sky Sports News.

McCarthy started the season as Palace's first-choice keeper while Julian Speroni was sidelined with a finger injury, but was replaced by Wales international Wayne Hennessey after failing to keep a clean sheet in six appearances.

The Eagles are willing to let the 26-year-old head out on loan to secure regular game time if they can bring in reinforcements before today's deadline.

Alan Pardew's side are thought to be closing in a deal for QPR's Rob Green, who is out of contract in the summer, which would make way for McCarthy to move to Craven Cottage.

Fulham, who are unable to buy players in this window because of a transfer embargo,  have struggled at the back this season, keeping just two clean sheets in 28 league matches - fewer than any other side in the Championship.

McCarthy joined Palace from QPR in the summer after spending just one season with the Loftus Road side.
