Akpom, who won a penalty in the Gunners' 5-0 embarrassment of Aston Villa yesterday is out of contract in the summer and has attracted interest from numerous sides in this window, including struggling German giants, Borussia Dortmund.

It was rumored that Wigan were set to add Akpom on loan earlier today but their interest in the 19-year-old appears to have died down, and FLW understands that Fulham are prepared to make a loan move for the promising forward.

Akpom is seen as something for the future, he has never scored a professional goal for the Gunners, nor out on loan at Brentford or Coventry City, however he has managed 14 goals at international level during involvement with the England youth sides.

The youngster joined Arsenal at the age of 8 and has been prolific whilst progressing through the Arsenal youth sides, scoring 10 goals in as many games in the 2012/13 U21 Elite Group Stage. Akpom will surely be looking for an opportunity for some serious development and Symons could be set to offer him just that.

According to FLW sources, Akpom may join the Championship club tonight, however it is more likely that he will move during the emergency loan window, which opens up for Football League sides on 10th February.
