Fulham are expected to meet Nottingham Forest’s valuation of Michael Mancienne in their pursuit of the player, according to Vital Football.
Manager Kit Symons has been looking at Mancienne for a while and, with time running out to complete a deal before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday, is expected to submit a bid that will satisfy those at the City Ground.
The Cottagers are considering offering Mancienne a four-year deal for a fee of £4.5 million.
The former England under-21 international started his career at Chelsea but gained first-team experience on loan at Queens Park Rangers and Wolves, where he established himself as a versatile and dependable central defender.
His move to Hamburg in 2011 was a surprise to many but after a mixed spell in Germany, he returned to the Championship in 2014 when he was signed by Forest.
The 27-year-old has established himself as an important member of the squad at the City Ground, but could be tempted by a move back to the capital if Fulham come calling.
If the London club do make a move, the deal will have to be completed quite quickly with only two days of the transfer window remaining.
