Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has admitted that the future of Ryan Sessegnon is out of his hands after Real Madrid were the latest club to be linked with a move for the young star.

Manchester United and Tottenham had led the way for the 17-year-old’s signature, but now reports suggest Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has taken a shining to the teenage prodigy.

Sessegnon has enjoyed an electric eighteen months since breaking into the first-team set-up last season, establishing himself as the first-choice left-back under Serbian manager Jokanovic.

The player only signed his first professional contract with the Cottagers this summer in a three-year deal, but could leave the clubs just six months into his contract.

“It’s nice for him and for the club too,” Jokanovic told The Evening Standard.

“I wish he is going to stay with me, but it’s not in my control.

“The future for this kid is bright, I don’t know when some new will happen. Right now this kid plays so well, I can’t control his situation.”

The Verdict

All associated with Fulham are resigned to losing the hottest teenager in British football, and can only hope the club gains as much compensation for the player as they possibly can.

Sessegnon is the real deal and a future England international, and his next move must be the correct one if he is to fulfil his huge potential.

Whether bids materialise in the new year remains to be seen, but it appears that Sessegnon won’t be a Fulham player by the start of next season.
