Fulham midfielder Josh Onomah has opened up on his decision to finally leave Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.

The Spurs' academy product is currently sidelined with a broken arm ahead of this weekend's FA Cup clash with Manchester City at The Etihad.

And he has now admitted that leaving the North London club was a really tough decision for him to make in the summer, but insists he has no regrets.

“Tottenham was my life, my future, and I developed a love for them that will always be in my heart," he said in an interview with The Independent.

"But that’s football for you. Not everything goes to plan.

"You have to come out of the bubble and I’ve needed that in my career. Sometimes that’s what being a man is, deciding the right thing for you.

“Fulham feels like home now."

QUIZ: Can you name the season in which these 14 Fulham images were taken?

He made 32 appearances during his time with Spurs, scoring just one goal, being sent out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa over the past two seasons.

But in the summer he finally made the permanent move away, signing for Scott Parker's Fulham and it has been one of his most fruitful seasons yet, netting a goal and an assist in 19 appearances so far.

The verdict

It was always going to be a big decision for Onomah to make but I ultimately think it is the right one.

The chances of him breaking into the Spurs team were practically non-existent and Fulham looks like the perfect place for him to continue his development.

There was always instability at both Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday but he is now getting the chance to play his game on a regular basis in a settled side who play the right way.

At 22 he still has plenty of time to play in the Premier League and most likely will if he continues at his current rate.
