Aboubakar Kamara scored twice as he replaced the suspended Aleksandar Mitrovic to help Fulham come from behind to beat QPR 2-1 at Craven Cottage on Friday night to move them back into the play-off places.

Going into this one QPR had not won any of their previous four matches whilst Fulham had seen off Birmingham just before the international break to reach the cusp of the top-six.

Form, therefore, was not on the side of the R's. But that did not phase them in the opening stages and with Championship top-scorer Mitrovic suspended for the hosts, why should it? Within three minutes they were ahead.

After a shaky opening from the hosts, QPR sprang into life, Todd Kane was fed in down the right-hand side and his centre was parried by Marek Rodak, but it landed right in front of the returning Jordan Hugill.

A slightly fortuitous finish, admittedly, as it flicked off his knee and then his foot, but it didn't matter as it creeped over the line for his eighth goal of the season, despite the best efforts of the retreating Denis Odoi.

It was the R's who continued to dominate the opening exchanges too. Nahki Wells' parried shot just bouncing too high for Kane to finish before the right-back saw his cross turned onto his own post by Ream, with a second goal seeming inevitable.

But the longer the game stayed at 1-0, the more confidence Parker's side started to play with.

With the likes of Ivan Cavaleiro, Tom Cairney and Anthony Knockaert all on the pitch, the Whites were not short of creators, but it would be Odoi who inspired the equaliser.

Some slick footwork was followed by a pinpoint cross, one which Kamara could not have asked much more of, and the unmarked striking incumbent headed cooly into the bottom-left corner - a moment that will have left Warburton seething.

Nahki Wells passed up the opportunity to give his side the lead again almost immediately, dithering on the ball when set through on goal, allowing Rodak time to advance and smother the Burnley loanee, denying him his tenth of the season.

It would be that early dominance and wasted opportunities that Warburton's side would be left to rue come full-time.

In a reversal of the first half, it was the hosts who came out firing after the break, pinning the R's in as they played with a fresh energy.

After 15 minutes, it eventually paid. With Warburton's men trying to play out from the back, Lumley was rushed into a clearance which fell kindly to the feet of Stefan Johansen.

The Norwegian slid a simple pass to an unmarked Kamara who set his feet before squeezing a shot past the despairing dive of the 'keeper to give his side the lead.

Blood clearly wafted in the nostrils of the hosts as they looked to kill this one off. Knockaert was sent racing through on goal after an impressive run and pass by substitute Bobby Reid, but the Frenchman could only watch on as his shot agonisingly struck the inside of the post, before Cavaleiro then saw his own shot from close range trickle wide moments later.

The R's continued to huff and puff their way up field with substitute Ilias Chair doing his best to keep the Fulham back line busy, but as the second half progressed, the more it became clear that QPR tanks were quickly emptying and ideas were running at a premium.

So it was left to Kamara to take the plaudits. Odoi impressed at right-back whilst Knockaert and Cavaleiro continued to shine, but it was the man with the unenviable task of replacing the league's top-scorer who shone brightest.

His physical presence a perfect replica for the Serbian's at both ends of the pitch and his performance will undoubtedly have had a lasting impression on his manager, as his side moved up to fourth.

For QPR, it becomes five without a win with the Hoops now facing the prospect of sitting as low as 16th come Sunday evening.
