Once again, Leeds United head into a match knowing that it is probably their most important one of the season to date.

Tonight, they welcome West Bromwich Albion to Elland Road as they look to make a big statement in the race to win automatic promotion to the Premier League.

A win would take Marcelo Bielsa’s side back to the top of the Championship with Norwich and Sheffield United not playing until tomorrow.

But once again, they will have to do so without the services of winger Jack Clarke who continues his spell on the sidelines after falling ill on the bench against Middlesbrough at the start of the month.

The 18-year-old has burst onto the scene this season, buzzing down both wings and terrorising defenders.

His energy has been badly missing from the Whites’ side since he began his spell on the sidelines, especially during tuesday night’s 1-0 loss to QPR.

But how will he be feeling?

Frustration will surely be the overriding emotion for Clarke now. Having been given the all clear from hospital he will be desperate to get back onto the pitch.

Obviously, he will understand and trust the Leeds medical staff to only put him back in when he is ready, but knowing that he could make a significant difference to the club’s fortunes will be weighing heavily on him as he watches on.

Returning with time to spare could be the difference in Leeds winning promotion or falling short.
