Nottingham Forest will be without the influential Jack Colback this weekend, as Aitor Karanka’s side welcome Sheffield United to the City Ground.

Colback has been key for the Reds over the course of the season so far, with the midfielder starting 13 of Forest’s 15 Championship fixtures.

He’s been key to a recent upturn in results, helping to dictate play from a holding midfielder position.

However, he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Leeds United last weekend, with the Nottingham Post confirming that Colback will now be suspended for this weekend’s clash against pacesetters, Sheffield United.

Adlene Guedioura has been Colback’s regular partner in midfield, but Liam Bridcutt and Ben Watson were handed starts against Burton Albion in the midweek cup defeat.

The same report from the Notts Post has indicated that Karanka could hand a league debut to Claudio Yacob, with the midfielder in his thoughts with Colback absent.

Forest will be looking to break into the play-offs this weekend when they go up against the high-flying Blades, after a run of positive results lifted Karanka’s side within two points of the play-off places.

The Verdict

Colback’s absence is a blow for Forest, as he’s been important over the course of this season.

Bridcutt and Watson haven’t been convincing alternatives, so this weekend is perhaps the right time for Yacob to step into the starting line-up.
