Barnsley will be hoping they can close the gap on their relegation rivals in the Championship when they return to action on Tuesday.

The Tykes were forced to settle for a point against play-off chasing Sheffield Wednesday in their last game, and they'll be keen to pick up a much-needed win to boost their survival chances.

Gerhard Struber's side are currently sat 23rd in the Championship table, and are eight points adrift of safety as they turn their attentions to their game against Birmingham City this week.

In a pre-match press conference ahead of their game against Pep Clotet's side, Struber revealed that both Marcel Ritzmaier and Samuel Radlinger will miss the game on Tuesday evening through injury.

Ritzmaier has made three appearances since arriving in the January transfer window from Austrian club Wolfsberger AC, but missed Barnsley's draw with Sheffield Wednesday in their last game.

Radlinger has also been a key member of the Barnsley squad, and has been their first-choice option since Struber was appointed as their new manager earlier this season.

The Verdict:

It's a frustrating update from the Barnsley boss ahead of their game against Birmingham City.

Radlinger and Ritzmaier have played their part for the Tykes this season, with Ritzmaier in particular looking like he could be a good signing after arriving in the January transfer window.

Collins is a strong enough option to have between the posts in place of Radlinger though, and I think they'll be able to cope without them for a couple more games.

Barnsley will be hoping they can pull off an upset when they take on the Blues this week, as it'll certainly be a tough test for Gerhard Struber's men.
