In just over five weeks, the January transfer window will once again open for business.

That is in 40 days, with clubs continuing to compile lists of potential targets managers up and down the country will be hoping to land to improve their side’s fortunes come the turn of the year.

The Championship resumes this weekend after the final international break of the calendar year, and with the fortnight off that has just been observed, it will have handed managers the chance to have a prolonged discussion about their business in the New Year.

Neil Harris will have been no different to every other manager in the English game as he looks to juggle preparing his Millwall side for their clash with Bolton Wanderers at the weekend with beginning to finalise targets for January.

The Lions are in need of strengthening in a few areas if they are to claw their way away from the relegation battle they currently find themselves in.

It could well be a busy time at The Den when deals can officially be finalised.

With that said, here are five players Millwall could sign when the transfer window reopens in January.

Having been out injured in recent weeks, Ben Marshall has reclaimed his spot on the bench at Carrow Road having been there for most of the season.

When he has played, it has been at right-back and Millwall should be looking to loan the winger back after a successful second-half spell at The Den last year.

Neil Harris could well move for the 27-year-old who looks to be out of favour at Norwich City at the moment.

Having had his loan at Ipswich cut short, Jordan Graham will be looking for a new club in the New Year.

The winger is training with Oxford at present ahead of a prospective loan deal come January, but Neil Harris should swoop in and add him to a Millwall side struggling at the foot of the table.

He is an old-school winger who likes to get crosses in the box, and with the Lions’ 4-4-2 approach, he could well be on his way to London in the New Year.

The Leyton Orient striker is 23-year-old and has scored 15 goals in 20 appearances this term.

With Lee Gregory out of contract in the summer and Tom Bradshaw out for the season, he could be the perfect player to fill the gap before becoming a Millwall mainstay next year.

It would be a low-risk signing and one that could certainly pay dividends, just like Gregory’s move did when he joined from non-league Halifax in 2014.

Millwall hold a longstanding interest in the player from when he was at QPR and with his deal running out at Sheffield United, and struggling to feature much, he could well be a player Neil Harris looks to sign in January.

In a 4-4-2 formation, the Lions would be able to play to his strengths and get the best out of him - something that Harris tends to do with many players that come through the doors at The Den.

If Millwall do go in for the striker in the New Year, it could well be a signing that works out for both the player and the club.

Tom Elliott’s performances are anything but consistent. He has excellent games then puts in a poor performance the week after.

Steve Morion isn’t getting any younger, and Matt Smith isn’t getting regular game time at Loftus Road.

It could all conspire to see the QPR man possibly head to The Den having been touted for a move in the past.

Having only made two starts this term, playing 262 minutes, a move away could be on the cards and Millwall could well sign him in January.
