It's a summer of change at Ashton Gate, with a significant chunk of the Bristol City senior squad gone and Nigel Pearson looking to bring in new recruits.

They've already signed one new player in the form of Matty James, while Nathan Baker has rejoined the club after being released at the end of his previous contract.

More signings are expected as Pearson starts the squad rebuild that it is hoped could transform the Robins into promotion contenders in coming years.

City could well look to offload some players in the current window to look to raise funds, adding to the exodus that has already taken place in Bs3 this summer.

Supporters will likely be keeping a close eye on where the departing Robins players go and it would not be a surprise for many of them to link up with other Championship clubs.

We're looking at former City players today, did you know where these 10 are now?

A City stalwart back in the late 2000s and early 2010s, Liam Fontaine was a solid performer in central defence and amassed nearly 300 appearances during his eight years at Ashton Gate.

His time with the Robins came to an end in 2014 when he joined Hibs on a free transfer and he still plays his football north of the border.

Fontaine left Ross County as a free agent last October and joined Scottish second tier side Dundee FC.

The 35-year-old was a hugely impressive performer for them last term and penned a contract extension back in May that will keep him at the club for the coming season.

While his move to West Ham United and then Cardiff City might have tarnished Nicky Maynard to some City fans, there's no doubt that the striker was an entertainer during his time with the Robins.

The acrobatic goal he scored against QPR has to be one of the finest by any player in the club's history and his record in front of goal in Bs3 was exemplary.

The latter part of his career has seen him feature for SPFL and lower league clubs, most recently joining Mansfield Town for the latter part of the 2020/21 season.

Maynard is set to be released at the end of the month and it's unclear where he'll be moving next.

Derrick Williams' time at Ashton Gate may have only lasted three years but he'll be fondly remembered in the South West for the part he played in the famous 2014/15 double-winning campaign.

The composed defender was ever-present for the Robins that term but fell out of favour once Lee Johnson took charge.

He joined Blackburn Rovers in 2016 but recently swapped the English North West for America's West Coast and is currently at MLS side LA Galaxy.

Injuries and a suspension have limited his opportunities so far but when available, he's been a regular fixture for the US outfit.

Football is all about entertainment and when it comes to showmen, few have sparkled brighter in City red than Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

When he was on song for the Robins he was simply unplayable and though things didn't work out for him at Ashton Gate, he remains a popular figure among the fanbase.

Emmanuel-Thomas' career seemed to be drifting at one point but he kick-started it by joining Livingston last season and has now earned a move to Aberdeen after impressing in the SPFL.

While perhaps impractical, you feel a return to Ashton Gate would be very well received by parts of the fanbase.

Another of the contributors in the famed 2014/15 double-winning campaign, Scott Wagstaff's tireless work on the flanks was vital during his three years at City.

He struggled to make much of an impact after their promotion to the Championship and a move back to the third tier seemed the natural next step.

Gillingham was his first stop before a successful move to Wimbledon and then a return to the South West with Forest Green Rovers.

He was released by the latter this summer and is now searching for a new club, he'll likely have some suitors in League Two.

20 goals across two seasons is not a bad return for a striker but Brett Pitman will likely be the first to admit Ashton Gate was not where he played his best football.

The forward had signed for the Robins from Bournemouth and was sold back to them in 2013 before joining Ipswich Town and then Portsmouth.

The Jersey-born striker signed for Swindon Town last summer and City fans may take joy in the fact that he was unable to keep them up in League One.

They were relegated alongside Bristol Rovers but Pitman is likely to be a key man in their promotion push next term.

Despite being popular among the fanbase, things never quite clicked for Eros Pisano in Bs3.

The right-back joined on a free transfer from Hellas Verona in 2017 but after 34 appearances in two years, he was released by the Robins.

A move back to Italy was his next step and in January 2020, Pisano signed for AC Pisa – the club at which he cut his teeth in senior football.

The 34-year-old remains at the club now but was little more than a bit-part player last term.

Even so, he's under contract until 2022 and looks set to be part of the senior squad again in the upcoming season.

Jonathan Kodjia, or Jimmy Danger as he was lovingly known, only spent one year with City but certainly proved his quality.

The Ivory Coast international hammered in 19 goals in 52 appearances for the Robins and earned himself a move to Aston Villa.

Kodjia played his part in their promotion-winning campaign but struggled to make much of an impact in the Premier League and left to join Qatari side Al-Gharafa SC in January 2020.

The 31-year-old has shown his quality in front of goal at his new club, bagging 7 goals in 10 games in 2019/20 and 11 in 24 last term.

There was a lot to like about Pedro Pereira during his one-year loan at City but he never really established himself as first choice and the Robins ultimately opted not to sign him permanently from Benfica.

Last season saw him sent out on loan again, this time to Serie A club Crotone where he cemented a place in the starting XI.

He has now returned to Benfica but with one year left on his deal they've got a decision to make – is he deserving of a chance in the senior squad or is it time to cash in?

Only time will tell.

Were it not for injuries, Niki Mäenpää could have established himself as the first choice shot-stopper at Ashton Gate.

As it was Dan Bentley was brought in and Mäenpää departed the club last summer, spending a few months as a free agent before joining Stoke City.

His time in the Potteries was brief but a move to Italian side Venezia proved a fantastic one.

The Finnish keeper played a starring role between the sticks as his new club were promoted via the Serie B play-offs.

Mäenpää certainly seems to have landed on his feet in Italy and looks likely to be a key player moving forward.
