Blackburn Rovers have adapted well to the tests the Championship has thrown at them since their return to the second tier.

Tony Mowbray’s side have not won in two matches, though, and have just two wins to their name in their previous six outings.

Saturday afternoon sees them come up against a resurgent Queens Park Rangers at Ewood Park.

Rovers have lost just once in 26 matches on their patch, a run that stretches back to their third-tier days.

Having had two winless outings on the road in recent weeks, it will be a relief to be back at home having seen off Leeds there last time out.

Having been unable to win in the last two matches, and injuries causing a problem for Mowbray, changes will certainly be made for this weekend’s visit of QPR to Lancashire.

So with that said, here’s the Blackburn XI that Mowbray must field against Steve McClaren’s side on Saturday afternoon.

After David Raya was taken off injured last week, substitute goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler needs to deputise between the sticks for Tony Mowbray’s side on Saturday.

Usually found in the middle of the pitch, Elliott Bennett has been deployed as a right-back in recent weeks and has excelled there.

Bennett needs to be starting again for Blackburn to resume the continuity in their back line.

With Darragh Lenihan a doubt for the game on Saturday, Tony Mowbray needs to continue with Jack Rodwell at the back for the visit of QPR.

Usually a midfielder, Rodwell is slowly getting back to full fitness after signing for the club in August.

The Blackburn captain has four goals to his name and is the club’s second highest goal scorer this term behind Bradley Dack.

There is no reason why he will not start on Saturday as it is vital he continues in defence for Rovers.

The 25-year-old Irishman played in the one-all draw with West Brom last weekend and did not disgrace himself.

First-team chances have been at a premium for the defender this term, and he certainly took his chance last Saturday.

He needs to start once more for Rovers this weekend at Ewood Park.

One of the mainstays in the Blackburn side, he has played in all 15 matches this season and has one assist to his name from a deeper position on the pitch.

A fans’ favourite who scored the equaliser in last weekend’s draw with West Brom to earn his side a point.

That was his second goal of the season having played in nine matches this term.

The Chelsea loanee is a certain starter for Tony Mowbray’s side, he is accomplished on the right-hand side of a narrow midfield and will look to get forward but can do the dirty work of getting back too.

He is a must-have in Mowbray’s starting XI on Saturday afternoon.

Last weekend was just Joe Rothwell’s fourth start of the season and his first start since the league cup defeat to Bournemouth back in September.

Having only started two league games since the end of August he did well in last week’s draw and should be given a chance to show Tony Mowbray he has what it takes to be a regular.

The mercurial midfielder has six goals to his name this term and two assists in 12 matches.

Tony Mowbray needs to start the former Gillingham man on Saturday if they have any hope of getting anything out of the game.

With Danny Graham injured and Bradley Dack better suited in the number ten role, it is high time Ben Brereton was handed as start having played just 163 minutes in the league from six substitute appearances this term.
