Adam Forshaw has discussed the ‘frightening’ knowledge of Leeds United head-coach, Marcelo Bielsa, insisting that the Argentine is the best coach he’s played under during his career.

Leeds moved to appoint Bielsa in the summer of 2018, with the 64-year-old helping to transform a mid-table squad into promotion-hopefuls.

Last year, Leeds missed out on the top-two and then in the play-offs, but they are back for more this season and sitting top of the table with nine games remaining.

For Forshaw, he’s had a tough time with injuries during his time under Bielsa, with his 2019/20 season cut to a disappointing end due to hip surgery.

Despite that season-ending setback, Forshaw has recently featured on Colin Murray’s 52 podcast, where he talked up the nature of his current boss.

When quizzed on the best coach he’s worked with, Forshaw replied: “I can’t look any further than now, Marcelo Bielsa.

“As a coach, as a manager, his knowledge is frightening.

“100% (obsessive) I think he’d agree, in fact, he’s said that to me himself.

“In his field, I’d say genius. In terms of coaching a group and improving young players, bringing players on: genius.”

Forshaw has played under some other top managers, including David Moyes at Everton, as well as promotion-winning coach Aitor Karanka at Middlesbrough.

The Verdict

The way Leeds’ squad speaks about Bielsa tells you that he’s changed their careers and given them a different outlook on the way football should be played.

Leeds’ transformation under the 64-year-old has been incredible and everyone can see it, right from Forshaw and his teammates to the people on the terrace at Elland Road.

They will hope they can deliver a promotion this season to justify his exceptional work.
