Fresh update emerges regarding Hull City’s transfer pursuit of 27-year-old midfielder

Hull City are 90% confident of completing a deal to sign Ozan Tufan this summer, according to Hull Daily Mail journalist Baz Cooper.

Tigers owner Acun Ilicali held lengthy discussions with Fenerbahce president Ali Koc over a move for the 27-year-old midfielder on Monday.

It is understood that Tufan is keen on securing a switch to the MKM Stadium ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

An initial report from the Hull Daily Mail yesterday revealed that Hull were in advanced talks over a move for the Turkey international.

Tufan spent the first half of the previous term on loan at Watford where he made seven appearances for the club in the Premier League.

After returning to Fenerbahce in January, Tufan only went on to feature on five occasions for the club in the Super Lig as he failed to make a lasting impression.

Whereas Fenerbahce finished runners-up to Trabzonspor in Turkey’s top-flight division, Hull meandered their way to a 19th place finish in the Championship standings.

The Tigers will be determined to reach new heights next season under the guidance of manager Shota Arveladze who was drafted in as a replacement for Grant McCann in January.

With the transfer window set to open later this week, Tufan is likely to become Hull’s first signing of the summer barring a setback in negotiations with Fenerbahce.

The Verdict

With Hull seemingly edging closer to completing a deal for Tufan, it will be interesting to see how he will fare in the Championship.

Although Tufan has featured in the top-flight during his career, he has yet to make his bow in the second-tier and thus it may take him some time to adapt to this particular division.

Capable of playing at full-back as well as in a number of different midfield positions, the former Bursaspor man’s versatility could prove to be useful for Hull.

By backing up this particular move by signing some more players this summer who they believe will be able to succeed in the Championship, the Tigers could move forward as a club later this year under the guidance of Arveladze.
