Ipswich Town are still interested in signing Dijon attacking midfielder Bersant Celina, although a loan deal is now more likely, a report from TWTD has claimed.
Celina scored eight goals in 38 games for Ipswich during a loan spell from Manchester City in the 2017-18 season, and it was reported earlier this summer that the Tractor Boys are keen on bringing the 24-year-old back to Portman Road this summer.
Championship sides Hull and Coventry are both also said to be interested in Celina, although it seems Ipswich are still moving forward with their pursuit of Celina this summer.
According to this latest update, Ipswich are now more likely to complete a loan deal for Celina during the current window, with the view to making that move permanent in 12 months time.
What was the score the last time Ipswich played these 25 teams?
Celina only joined Dijon from Swansea last summer, and made 33 appearances during the 2020/21 as the club were relegated from the French top-flight.
This could prove to be a smart piece of business from Ipswich in my opinion.
It is no secret that finances of clubs across the country and the world have been hit badly by the events of the past year or so.
As a result, a loan deal with the option to buy next season could be useful for Ipswich, reducing some of the pressure on their budget in the current climate.
Indeed, with Celina’s seemingly considering the move himself, it does seem as though Ipswich may have something of a shot here, and given the quality that this could add to their side, that could be something worth them trying to take advantage of.
