West Bromwich Albion winger Grady Diangana is now likely to stay at the Hawthorns for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign, according to the Express & Star.

The Baggies were reportedly willing to offer a £1.5m loan fee to the 21-year-old's parent club West Ham United in order to keep him at the club.

However, with Diangana suffering an injury during West Brom's defeat to Stoke City on Monday, it is understood that the Championship outfit will only have to pay a small fee to the Hammers.

Whilst West Ham do have the option to recall the winger from his spell with the Baggies before January 27th, manager David Moyes has suggested that they are unlikely to bring him back this month.

Speaking to Football.London ahead of the Hammers' clash with Leicester City about Diangana, the 56-year-old said: "It was a big consideration [recalling him].

"His injury last night has put paid to him coming back.

"We are so short of players just now, maybe a months' time when he's recovered.

"He'll probably stay there until the end of the season."

As a result of the hamstring injury that he suffered against Stoke, Diangana could miss the next six league games depending on the severity of his issue.

The winger is currently waiting for the results of a scan that he had on Monday.

The Verdict

Whilst Diangana's latest injury is a blow for West Brom, the fact that it is now looking likely that he will stay at the Hawthorns for the rest of the season is unquestionably good news.

One of the Baggies' stand-out performers this year, the winger has provided six assists for his team-mates whilst also scoring five goals in the Championship.

Given that West Brom are currently fighting for promotion to the Premier League, Diangana could end up playing a key role in helping them achieve this goal when he returns to full fitness.

Providing that the winger is able to replicate the displays which allowed him to take the second-tier by storm during the early months of the campaign, he may continue to make considerable strides in terms of his development.
