Nottingham Forest fans will have had a hectic morning today with reports concerning Aitor Karanka's future once again doing the rounds.

It had seemed as though the Spaniard had quelled such speculation around his job in recent weeks with a fine win over Leeds into the bargain.

However, earlier today talkSPORT's Ben Fletcher was reporting that it could well be the case that he would lose his job as early as today:

Now, though, contrasting reports are coming out of the club suggesting that such a claim was wide of the mark.

Indeed, local Nottingham journalist Paul Taylor has sought to clarify things via this tweet:

Karanka, then, isn't on the way from the club just yet by the looks of things, but it certainly seems as though his future is shrouded by uncertainty.

To be fair to Fletcher, though, he has also reported this latest update in what is an ongoing saga clearly:

The Verdict

Clearly, this is a fluid situation at the moment and it seems as though Karanka is hanging on by a thread right now.

It seems odd to see Forest in this way given their decent season but, then again, look at some of their recent decisions - it's not a shock at all and you feel for the Reds' fan-base.
