Peterborough United forward Siriki Dembele was left out of the club's squad this weekend against Luton Town, as per a recent report by the Daily Record.

The 24-year-old has been placed on the transfer list at London Road and is said to be of interest to both Rangers and Celtic this summer as he weighs up his future with the Sky Bet Championship club.

Dembele's desire to leave the Posh has been well documented, however it appears that Darren Ferguson's men are yet to have received a suitable offer for their player so far.

The brother of Celtic player Karamoko, Dembele was in fine form for his club last season as they claimed promotion back to the Championship, scoring 11 goals and assisting a further 12 as he played a vital role in helping his side get back to the second tier.

Born in London originally, the forward has Scottish citizenship and is now into the final 12 months of his current contract with the Posh as speculation continues over his future.

The Verdict

I think it would be best for all parties if Dembele leaves London Road sooner rather than later as keeping him about the place could well affect morale in the squad.

It's clear that he wants to try his hand at a new challenge but as yet the Posh haven't received an acceptable offer for a player who is one of their most talented.

Dembele would be an ideal signing for both Rangers and Celtic and I do think he will get his wish of a move north during the current window.

It will certainly be intriguing to see how much money he goes for, as it wouldn't shock me if Posh are looking for a fee of at least seven figures for the forward who contributed so heavily last season.
